Zakho Center for Kurdish Studies Recalls Martyrs of Peshmerga

On Thursday, August 2, 2018, ZaKho Center for Kurdish Studies at the Faculty of Humanities- University of Zakho, held a memorial ceremony for the martyrs of the Peshmerga forces in the battle against ISIS to celebrate their heroism and sacrifice in honor of their country. This ceremony was held in the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Lazgin A. Jamil-President of the University of Zakho , deans of faculties, faculty members and high-level personalities, as well as the media and television channels to cover the event.
At the beginning, they stood a minute of silence in honor of the soul of martyrs with the national anthem being played, followed by a number of speeches, and first made by Assistant Professor Dr. Diyar A. Saed-Dean of the Faculty of Humanities then by the President of the University. After that, Dr. Nezhiyar Naaman introduced her recently published book which documented the biography of more than 500 fighters from the province of Dohuk who had sacrificed their lives. Then a documentary film about the heroic role of the Peshmerga forces in the battlefields was screened.
The ceremony was concluded by holding a discussion that consisted of Mr. Sarbast Lazgin, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Peshmerga, Mr. Hussein Yazdan, leader of the Kurdistan Freedom Party, and Mr. Parvan Hamdi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Martyrs and Anfal Affairs.
